Port Richey officers vote 'no confidence' in police chief

In a rare move, sixteen Port Richey police officers unanimously affirmed a no-confidence vote against Police Chief Dave Brown.
Brown, who has been chief since 2008, is accused of mishandling promotions and the sale of police equipment and cars.
The West Central Florida Police Benevolent Association said the letter of no confidence will be on the city manager’s desk by Thursday.
City Manager Tom O’Neill said he has formally requested the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conduct its own investigation.
Bill Colombo, vice mayor, agreed with O’Neill’s decision.
“It is an issue of concern,” he said. “I applaud the city manager for bringing in FDLE. We need complete transparency in our police department.”
