Pasco County deputies say a woman fled a traffic stop, crashed and then ended up in a river

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A traffic stop ended with a Pasco woman crashing her car into a river and then swimming across to try and escape from authorities, according to Pasco County deputies.

Elizabeth Missildine, of 5410 Maryland Drive in Hudson, is now charged with fleeing to elude and driving on a suspended license.

Deputies say they tried to pull the 22-year-old over near Cross Bayou Boulevard Monday night because she was driving without lights.

Missildine did not immediately pull over and was weaving in between lanes, deputies report.

An arrest report states Missildine pulled over at 5248 Bellview Avenue, approximately 1.76 miles after deputies activated their lights and sirens.

Once pulled over, deputies say Missildine admitted she was driving on a suspended license.

When deputies asked Missildine to hand over her car keys, an arrest report states she started the vehicle and sped away as deputies yelled, "Sheriff, stop!"

Missildine crashed her car into a barrier at the north end of Bellview Avenue and her car went into the river, deputies say.

Deputies say Missildine then swam across the river and jumped a fence where she was finally apprehended.

An arrest report states the Missildine admitted to fleeing because she was driving on a suspended license and had been drinking alcohol.

Missildine was taken to an area hospital to be checked out. Once cleared medically, she was taken to jail.

She bonded out of jail Tuesday.
