Pasco County deputies say a 16-year-old brought a machete to school and threatened classmates

PASCO COUNTY, Fla - Pasco County deputies say a 16-year-old brought a machete to school and threatened classmates Monday.

ABC Action News is not naming the teen because he is a juvenile.

Deputies say the teen brought the machete to Wesley Chapel High School and hid it in his pants.

The machete is described as having a serrated blade approximately 2.5 feet in length.

An arrest affidavit states that after the teen pulled the machete out of his pants he said, "Now you want to mess with me."

The teen then left the campus forcing school officials to initiate an emergency plan and enter into a controlled campus for the entire three school complex, deputies say.

The teen was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.

The teen is charged with possession of a weapon on a school campus and disruption of a school function.
