A 57-year-old bus assistant in Pasco County has been charged after deputies said he slapped an autistic child.
James Robert Lambert was charged Friday with child abuse, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Lambert was riding a school bus when a 10-year-old autistic child began yelling profanities, according to detectives. Lambert yelled at the student to stop. That’s when deputies said he walked to the back of the bus and slapped the child across the left side of the face with an open hand.
Detectives said the incident was caught on video, but the school system hadn’t released it Friday night.
