A seven year old boy fighting a terminal illness got to take a break from treatment Tuesday to take on a different fight: killing zombies with Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Spencer Holt suffers from debilitating disease that attacks his internal organs. Nocco learned he had a love for law enforcement and zombies, so decided to throw him a surprise day at the old jail.

"We usually see the worst of the worst of society, but today was a good day," Nocco said.

After meeting the sheriff, Spencer, along with his two brothers Colin and Jaiden, got to run around the old jail with nerf guns along side deputies in full SWAT gear.

The boys' special mission: kill the dozens of zombies, played by a local high school drama team.

"He had an ear to ear grin. He was excited," said Cher Holt, Spencer's mother.

The Holt family recently moved to Florida to be closer to All Children's Hospital for Spencer's treatment.

"There's no cure for it, you just treat the symptoms and keep him as healthy as possible and as happy as possible," she said.

Before the family left for the day, Nocco had one more surprise for Spencer's mother -- a wheelchair accessible van courtesy of Farrell Roofing.

Due to medical expenses, the family could no longer afford their old one.

"We got together to help a little boy who is new to the Tampa bay region but is facing struggles that you wouldn't wish on anyone," Nocco said.
