A Pasco County man has been charged with child neglect after he left two young children home alone to go to the emergency room.

Issac Danyluk, 36, checked in to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital's emergency room, seeking treatment for a toothache.

He told the staff he would need to leave by 5:30 a.m. because he had two young kids, ages 3 and 5, at the house.

The hospital told him to go home to supervise the children and immediately reported it to the Police Department.

Danyluk spoke with ABC Action News and said he's a single parent with no car or family members in the area, and that he rode his bike to the ER asking for a shot of Novocain. He says he told the hospital he couldn't stay because his kids were home alone. He also said the doors were locked and he has a protective dog at home.

He said he had no other option but to leave the children sleeping at the house. Danyluk was arrested and transported to a detention center, and was later released.
