Pasco schools cut dozens of positions

LAND O' LAKES, Fla. -

Pasco County's school superintendent, Kurt Browning, said the district needs to change their model to help reading scores improve.
On Tuesday, the board supported the superintendent's plan by voting to eliminate media specialists, technology specialists, and literacy coaches at Pasco schools.
They will be replaced with 80 new positions that emphasize more work in the classroom with students.
Those affected can apply for one of the new jobs or apply to become a classroom teacher.
