Pasco County deputies are investigating after human remains were found Friday in New Port Richey.
The remains were found about 3:15 p.m. in a wood area on Massachusetts Avenue between Congress Street and Rowan Road, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies later identified the man as Anthony Cucchiara, 56, who had been missing since May 7. According to family Cucchiara had left his house that day to meet with his probation officer, but never showed up.
He had made prior threats against his life before he disappeared. He allegedly told relatives and family that he wanted to kill himself if he ever violated probation, because he didn't want to go back to jail.
The cause of death has still not been determined and is dependent upon the completion of an autopsy.
