An 7-year-old girl was severely injured Friday when her family’s pet Labrador attacked her, authorities said.
The girl was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with severe lacerations to her face, eye and nose, authorities said. The severity of the injuries could require reconstructive surgery.
The 90-pound Chocolate lab was taken from the home by animal control workers.
The pet had been acting aggressively toward the family’s children, so their parents put the animal in a backroom, authorities said. The girl entered the room to get a toy and that’s when the dog attacked.
The parents heard the girl’s screams and ran to find her injured, authorities said.
Animal control workers are looking into an allegation that the dog bit another child in the neighborhood.
