ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - A homeowner was able to safely escape a violent criminal just after midnight Saturday, Pasco County deputies say.
The suspect broke into the victim's home on Court Street. While the suspect was inside the home, the victim was able to get out of the house safely, and call 911 from a neighbor's home.
When deputies arrived they found the suspect still inside the house. As deputies approached, the suspect barricaded himself inside a bedroom and started a fire.
Deputies were able to break into the bedroom, but the suspect became violent while resisting arrest. Responders had to use a tazer to subdue the suspect enough to handcuff him. Once in handcuffs he reportedly continued to kick and bit at deputies.
Finally the suspect was able to be transported a local hospital where he had to be sedated because he was too combative to receive treatment.
His condition and name are unknown at this time.
