Cold weather prompts Pasco County to open shelters

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla - Cold-weather shelters are opening tonight in Pasco County to help those in need escape the expected low temperatures. The shelters are for the homeless and those who live in homes without adequate heat.

In preparation for potentially freezing temperatures, Pasco County is opening up cold weather shelters:

 

The following shelter will be open Monday 03/25/13 and Tuesday 03/26/2013:
 
The Christian Church (813) 810-8670
34921 Chancey Road
Zephyrhills
*Families accepted.
 
The following shelter will be open Tuesday 03/26/13 and Wednesday 03/27/2013:
 
Community Congregational Church
6533 Circle Dr (727)-597-0428 
New Port Richey 
*No Families.
 
The following shelter is open 24 hours a day
 
The Holy Ground Shelter
8835 Denton Avenue 
Hudson 
*Families accepted.

The low temperatures and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time. Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them.
