Safety Harbor teen hit by motorcycle, authorities search for rider

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - Investigators are asking for public assistance to help find a motorcyclist they say hit a 16-year-old girl, then took off.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday at 10th Avenue North and 7th Street North in the Lincoln Highlands subdivision of Safety Harbor.

Officials say the teenager was walking on the street with some friends.  As she turned west onto 7th Street North to head home, a motorcycle traveling eastbound reportedly struck her.

She was flown to Bayfront Medical Center, reportedly with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, deputies do not have a description of the rider. Pieces of broken plastic, believed to be from the fairing of the motorcycle were found at the scene. The pieces are blue in color.
