Child overhears man say he wants to kidnap children at park, Pinellas Co. deputies say

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. - The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is asking parents to keep a close eye on their kids in and around the Philippe Park area in Safety Harbor.

Witnesses say they saw a man watching the children on the playground.  They say he was even seen hiding behind trees, before he walked out of the park.

Deputies say the description they have been given is limited, but the man is a white male in his 50's, about 5'6'' to 5'7'' and weighs about 180 to 190 pounds.

Witnesses also told deputies he has brownish, blond hair with a receding hairline and was last seen wearing black pants and a black shirt.

Even more disturbing, deputies say a child told them they overheard the man saying he wanted to kidnap the children who were on the playground at the park.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

If you may have seen this man or have more information on who he may be, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.  You don't have to leave your name and you could earn a cash reward.
