3 seriously injured in 2-vehicle Palm Harbor crash; motorcycle ejected, trapped in vehicle

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Three people have sustained serious injuries after a vehicle and motorcycle crashed in Palm Harbor on Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2004 Chevy Venture, driven by Donald William Hutwelker, 82, of Palm Harbor, was southbound on County Road 1, when he turned left at Wexler Drive North and into the path of a 2006 Suzuki Motorcycle, driven by Anthony John Riolo, 22, of Palm Harbor.

The vehicles collided, ejecting Riolo into the Venture, where he was trapped until emergency crews were able to remove him.

Both vehicles overturned and traveled into the intersection before coming to a stop.

Hutwelker, Riolo and Hutwelker's passenger, Velma Louise McShane, 85, of Palm Harbor, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to local hospitals.

Hutwelker and McShane were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Riolo was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Hutwelker will be ticketed for an improper left turn.
