A Largo man is charged with driving drunk, then running over his passenger three times early Saturday morning.
According to Largo Police Department, Richard Blasioli, 66, backed over Daniel Estes after dropping him off at the Laguna Vista Apartments.
Blasioli got out of the car, and looked underneath, where Estes lay on the ground.
"Then he got back in the car, backed over him, drove forward back over him, then left and went home," explained Lt. Mike Loux.
"From alcohol. You would assume that's why he was charged with DUI. Why he specifically ran the guy over and drove forward, I don't know."
Police arrested Blasioli at his home nearby, where his car was parked in the garage.
Estes was hospitalized with serious injuries, including a collapsed lung.
Saturday's charge is Blasioli's third DUI arrest in 7 years. A charge in 2006 was reduced to reckless driving, otherwise, his license likely would have been suspended after an arrest in 2008.
"It was reviewed and seen as a first time DUI and he received a first time DUI minimum sanctions," explained attorney Stephanie Valentine.
Blasioli is out of jail on bond. He is charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.
