A three-foot-wide tree toppled early Friday morning and crashed into four units at the King Arthur Court Condominium in Dunedin.
Four families were evacuated, and the Red Cross was called to help them.
"It was a huge, huge noise! Big, big boom!" recalled Alex Bradley.
Officials with Dunedin Fire Rescue believe high winds and a rotten trunk led to the collapse.
"It just came down right on through, woke me up out of a dead sleep and scared the crap out of me," Bradley said.
The tree smashed a patio, broke windows, tore the edge of a roof, but it didn't puncture any walls.
No injuries were reported.
