Intersection shutdown for 3 hours, re-opened

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Three vehicles were involved in an accident Saturday evening, Clearwater police report.

The crash happened at Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Belcher Road just after 5:30 p.m.

Officials say a two-door Chevrolet was attempting to to make a left turn onto Belcher Road, and was stopped in the middle of the intersection.

A Dodge was traveling down Gulf to Bay and ran through a yellow light turning left, into the path of the Chevrolet.

The Dodge struck the Chevy causing the coup to spin into the path of a Lincoln that was stopped at the intersection northbound on Belcher Road.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to Tampa General Hospital with injuries police believed to be life-threatening. The passenger in car was also taken to TGH, but suffered from non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to Bay Front Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was not reported whether their passenger sustained any injuries.

None of the three people in the Lincoln had any injuries.

Police were able to re-open the intersection at 8:35 p.m.
