Police in Clearwater arrested a man and woman they say burglarized a residential parking garage then beat up a random woman while fleeing from police.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Tommy Figueroa and 39-year-old Aneatra Clark, both from the Miami area, shortly after the attack. According to police, they were found inside of a fenced in parking garage with burglary tools and gloves.

"They sensed that we were coming, that security was onto them, that's when they decided to take off," CPD spokesperson Rob Shaw said.

They ran into a neighboring complex on Windward Passage when they came face to face with a woman outside of her home.

"Seems like she just happened to be in their path as they're fleeing. They saw her as a threat even though she wasn't and punched her," Shaw said.

According to police, Clark held the woman down while 6'3", 170 pound Figueroa punched the woman in the face three times.

Both of the suspects are from the Miami area. It's not clear why they were in Clearwater. Both have since posted bond.
