Fire at Clearwater gymnastics business suspected arson

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Clearwater Fire Rescue responded to a two alarm fire late Saturday night at a local gymnastics facility.

A Clearwater police officer was in the area of Range Road when he smelled smoke around 10:15 p.m. The smell lead him to Apollo Gymnastics where he realized the building was on fire.

Over 15 different fire crews with 50 firefighters responded  to battle the blaze.

It took crews half an hour to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The extent of the damage is unclear at this time.

State Fire Marshals are at the scene. Arson is suspected.
