Clearwater firefighters rescue ducklings from drain

CLEARWATER, Fla. - It wasn't their typical emergency call, but some Clearwater Firefighters pulled off a heartwarming rescue on Monday.

The fire department received a call from a citizen around 12:30 p.m. that a frantic duck was standing over a storm drain near 1401 Court Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found the duck hovering over the drain.  Her ducklings were trapped below.

The responding crew quickly went to work and used tools to lift the storm grate.

As soon as it was lifted, they removed six ducklings.

Clearwater Fire put the chicks in a crate and reunited them all with their mom in a safe area.
