CLEARWATER, Fla. - The second bicyclist struck by a hit and run driver on Labor Day has died.
Clearwater Police say Hilary Michalak, who has been hospitalized since the accident, passed away just after 7:30 a.m.
Michalak and 25 year old Robert Lemon were riding their tandum bicycle on Memorial Causeway when they were hit by a car. Lemon died the day of the accident.
The driver of the car was later identified as 29 year-old Christopher Patrick Weed. Weed was arrested and charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.
That second charge is likely to be upgraded because of Michalak's death, but it will be up to the Pasco-Pinellas State Attorney's Office. Weed remains in the Pinellas County Jail.
