HCSO: SWAT standoff triggered after woman reported being held by boyfriend at gunpoint

CARROLLWOOD, Fla. - A SWAT situation that began when a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend has held her at gunpoint has ended with the suspect in custody.

Multiple deputies and tactical units surrounded the suspect's home in the Carrollwood apartment after the woman was able to escape the home, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokesperson Cristal Bermudez Nunez.

The first deputy on scene found James Marshall Fullwood II in a vehicle, but he fled into the house. The deputy reported seeing Fullwood with a gun.

The HCSO SWAT team responded to the call and a crisis negotiator began speaking with Fullwood.

Eight homes were evacuated during the standoff. There were no reports of shots fired or any injuries.

Deputies are still working to find the gun Fullwood allegedly had with him in the incident.

Bermudez Nunez said Fullwood would be Baker Acted. Fullwood has a lengthy criminal arrest record.
