Florida Senator Marco Rubio is thanking a 10-year-old Georgia boy for his kind gesture of donating his hair to a family friend suffering from a hair loss disorder.

The senator wrote a letter to Tyler Boone of Georgia telling him his donation to Gabby Ruiz of Riverview was a wonderful example of selfless and compassion for others.

ABC Action News was the first to tell you about the story of Boone growing his hair out for two years to donate to Ruiz, who was diagnosed with alopecia at the age of four.

In December we captured the moment when Ruiz cut Boone's 12 inches of hair, before sending it off to Children with Hair Loss for a wig.

Recently, Ruiz received the wig made from Boone's hair.

This past month, Ruiz has tried to get use to having hair.

The young teen usually wears her hair bald, but enjoys having the option for hair if she wants it.

The Ruiz family has received feedback from around the world and the United States.
