TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Financial services giant Morgan Stanley announced Wednesday morning the company will be expanding its operation in Hillsborough County.
The global company says they will be adding 110 jobs in the Intellicenter Office Park located at 12653 Telecom Drive in Temple Terrace. Seventy current employees in the area will also be moving into the building with the new hires. Executives from the Fortune 500 company say the new jobs won't just be a plus for those hired, but additionally for the community as a whole.
"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Morgan Stanley to the City of Temple Terrace," said Temple Terrace Mayor Frank Chillura at Wednesday's press conference. He was joined by Hillsborough County representatives as well as dozens of current Morgan Stanley employees.
According to Jose Morales, Executive Director with Morgan Stanley, these added jobs are high-profile and specialized. Many of them with starting salaries of $55,000 per year.
"Here at this location, we are primarily focused on financial advisors, client service associates and operations staff," said Morales.
He added these jobs will even be a plus for students coming out of local universities as Morgan Stanley has a partnership with the University of South Florida.
While the expansion is exciting for the company, it also serves as a selling point for future developments according to Jeff Lucas, Director with Tampa-Hillsborough Economic Development.
"Not only will this expansion have a direct impact on our community through its expansion of 110 jobs and millions of dollars invested in this new facility, but it strengthens our reputation for premier financial services companies."
Brining the expansion project to Hillsborough County was no easy get either, as the county competed with alternative sites offered in Utah and Ohio.
