Deputies say man broke into business and threatened owner

SEFFNER, Fla. - A Brandon man is behind bars after Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say he broke into a local business, pulled a knife on the owner, then opened fire with a gun outside.

Shellie Herndon is still shaken up, after she says the man terrorized her husband, Todd. Herndon said, "He did threaten Todd with a gun and he threatened Todd with a knife."

She says that man is Corey Dyal, a family friend, who came to The Car Store, in Seffner, just before 9 a.m. Friday.

After spooking Todd, Herndon says Dyal went behind the business and shot off a gun. Then investigators say he grabbed a shovel, threatened another employee, and broke the windows out of several vehicles in the lot. Workers ran for cover. Herndon said, "We got our guys in the back. Got our employees out of here. Made sure our place was secure."

Joshua Tolloti was working next door at Design Ink, when deputies told him to get out. Tolloti said, "It's definitely shocking to see something like that. Especially that many cops around here."

Investigators say Dyal, who was threatening to harm himself, eventually surrendered. No one was injured. The suspect faces several charges, Including Aggravated Assault with a Weapon.
