PLANT CITY, Fla. - UPDATE: Police have arrested 23-year-old David Gabriel Coleman and charged him with second degree murder.
PREVIOUS: Plant City Police are investigating a homicide at the Woodbridge Apartments at 1500 Plantation Grove Court in Plant City.
Detectives say Tiffany April Lamar, 24, was found dead in her apartment Monday morning around 3:30.
"At some point the suspect got into an argument and the suspect obviously murdered the victim," says Sgt. Tray Towles with the Plant City Police Department.
Sgt. Towles says Hillsborough County deputies arrived at the apartment early Monday morning after the suspect went to his parent's house, giving some indication something had happened.
"He went to a parent's home out in the county," says Sgt. Towles. "[He] confronted the parent and he had an injury. The parent asked him about the injury. At that point it was determined it was a good idea to contact the Sheriff's Office."
A child was found in the apartment with Lamar when deputies arrived. That child has since been put in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. The suspect in this case had two small children with him when he arrived at his parent's house. They have also been put in DCF custody, according to Plant City Police.
At this time, Plant City PD will only say Lamar died from upper body trauma and say they will not release anything further, as the investigation is still ongoing.
As of noon Monday, the suspect's identity had not been released. Plant City PD will only say the victim and the suspect were in some sort of relationship.
