Celebration of Life service being held for Plant City High School student killed in crash

PLANT CITY - A Celebration of Life service will be held for the Plant High School student who died in a car crash during his Spring Break last Friday.

Officials say 17-year-old Blake Aaron Flrod collided with a semi-trailer while driving in Plant City just before 2:00 a.m.

Flrod was headed west on Knights Griffin Road when he ran a red light at State Road 39.

At that time, 63-year-old Mack Toole was traveling in a semi-trailer northbound on State Road 39, and as both vehicles approached the intersection, they collided.

Flrod's vehicle went underneath Toole's trailer, caught on fire and became fully involved.

Flrod died at the scene of the crash. Toole's vehicle sustained damage, but he was not injured.

Flrod is described as a kind, fun loving teen that made him a favorite to friends of all ages.

He had a passion for creating music, and loved fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his grand-dad Bruce Chaiser. He is survived by his parents Blake and Stacy Elrod; grandparents Kristi Chaiser, and Jerry and Gail Elrod; and a loving extended family.

Flrod's Celebration of Life service will be held March 20 at the Hopewell Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m., located at 6005 CR 39S in Plant City. Expressions of condolence can be made at www.hopewellfuneral.com.
