One person dies and another is injured after a train accident in Plant City. It happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at the railroad crossing for Candis Road and Paul Buckman Highway.
The CSX freight train was approaching the intersection of Candis Road when a vehicle attempted to beat the train across the tracks. The car drove onto the tracks and was hit on the passenger side of the vehicle by the train. The car was pushed into the ditch by the train.
The passenger died from injuries in the crash. The driver was transported to Tampa General with serious injuries.
