Gas prices at the pump continue to drop across the country, and some of the lowest prices are right here in the Tampa Bay area.

According to AAA, in the last week, gas prices have dropped another 6 cents nationwide. In Florida they have dropped on average 5 cents a gallon. The national average for a gallon is $2.34. In Florida it is $2.20.

But if you drive around the bay area, you can spot gas for much less than that, and at some stations like one in Riverview near U.S. 301 and Bloomingdale Avenue, gas is going for under $2 a gallon.

AAA says these are the lowest prices we have seen in over 10 years.

The simple reason? The price of a barrel of crude oil is way down. At one time when we saw prices up around the $4 mark,  a barrel of crude was going at $120. Right now it is $46 a barrel.

And AAA says there are no signs that the price of gas is going to go up.  In fact, prices could even drop more as stations change over to their winter blend.

Interesting side note: A year ago, here in Florida, we were paying around $3.30 a gallon. The nation's highest price at the pump right now, when crude is at the lowest it has been in years, California where they are paying about $3.30 a gallon.
