Explosion in Brandon sends man to trauma center

BRANDON, Fla. - A man was flown to Tampa General's trauma center with severe burns after an explosion and fire in a residential neighborhood in South Brandon, according to officials.  Deputies say a backyard barn may have been used as a meth lab.

Hillsborough County deputies responded to a report of three explosions and a fire near 836 Center Avenue in Brandon.

Fire Rescue spokesperson Ronnie Rivera said one person was severely burned.
A neighbor reported hearing an explosion, and then watching a man run out of a barn that was on fire.
The caller reported he then heard two more explosions.
Deputies are checking the barn for other victims and clues to what happened.
