Man killed crossing busy Bloomingdale roadway

A man was killed early Friday morning while trying to cross Bloomingdale Ave. in Brandon.
Just after 4:30 Friday morning, a driver called Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office to report she had just hit a man walking across Bloomingdale Ave. at Maze Lane.
Ronald Sandalic, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said he had been wearing dark clothing and was struck by a woman in a Ford Focus. Sandalic was thrown about 70 feet and almost immediately after the accident, deputies said Sandalic was hit by another another vehicle.
Both drivers pulled over and tried to help Sandalic and waved cars around him, but Sandalic was hit by three other vehicles, two of which did not stop.
Deputies said the drivers who kept going won't face charges given Sanalic's condition at the time he was hit, but deputies are asking those drivers to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Section for documentation in the crash report at 813-247-8200.
Bloomingdale Avenue was closed for several hours as officials investigated.  The roadway was reopened before 9:30 a.m.
