HOMOSASSA, Fla - Three of five dogs running loose on Highway 19 in Citrus County over the weekend were rescued, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
One dog was hit by a car and suffered significant injuries.
Deputies say they received a call reporting that five dogs were running loose on Highway 19 near Dixieland Street in Homosassa.
By the time animal control officers arrived, one dog had been hit by a car. Officers were only able to locate two of the other dogs.
Authorities say a Good Samaritan saw the severely injured dog, picked him up and took him to an area vet.
None of the dogs were wearing collars or identification. All three dogs were not micro-chipped.

Deputies are now trying to locate the owner of the dogs.
