SPRING HILL, Fla. - A female lion that escaped its enclosure was tranquilized and relocated to a new cage, Florida fish and Wildlife officers said Friday.
The 7-year-old lioness named "Savannah" was spotted within the perimeter of the Survival Outreach Sanctuary after getting loose from her enclosure. She was calm and sunning herself on the grounds and did not pose a threat, officers said. The sanctuary, located at 22005 Bowman Road in Spring Hill, has an outer perimeter fence that is 10 feet tall.

The agricultural unit of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search for the lion, which was relocated to a new cage safely after being tranquilized.
No one was hurt. Officials have not said how the lion got loose but they have charged the sanctuary's owner, Judy Watson, with improper caging of a class 1 animal, which is a 1st degree misdemeanor.
