Sheriff: Hernando teacher was beaten to death by boyfriend

SPRING HILL, Fla. - A Hernando County teacher died from a severe beating after getting into an argument with her boyfriend, according to a sheriff's statement released Friday.

The body of Lee Anne Shoeman was found in her home Monday morning after deputies were asked to perform a welfare check.

During the argument Jerome Sheridan became enraged and struck Shoeman with his fists and other objects, according to the statement.

Sheridan, 49, was found Monday evening in the Citrus Mall parking lot in Hillsborough County by sheriff's deputies.  He was attempting to cut his wrists, according to authorities.

He was taken into custody and later was charged with first-degree murder after admitting to the crime, deputies said.

Sheridan has been transferred from the Hillsborough County Jail to the Hernando County Detention Center in Brooksville.
