Two men escaped serious injury Friday morning when a small plane they flew in made a hard landing at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport, according to the Hernando County officials.
A student pilot and instructor were practicing approaches at the airport in a Cessna 172/M Skyhawk when they made the hard landing about 10:45 p.m. It damaged the plane’s left wing, landing gear and propeller, but both men refused medical treatment.
A Hernando County fire crew cleaned up a minor fuel leak caused by the landing. The runway was reopened at 12:15 p.m.
