Hernando County leaders want their residents to help shape the rules when it comes to waste and recycling in neighborhoods throughout the county.

The Hernando County Division of Solid Waste is recruiting volunteers to sit  on the new Solid Waste & Recycling Advisory Committee to provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for changes to the Trash and Recycling Curbside collection contract, Recycling Processing Contract and the Solid Waste Ordinance that would become effective on January 1, 2019.

Leaders are searching for approximately 8 to 10 volunteers. Volunteers can be residents, business owners, HOA representatives and they will participate in monthly meetings for up to one year. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Northwest Main Landfill located at 14450 Landfill Road in Brooksville.

In order to be considered for the committee, you must complete a volunteer application and submit it to Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling by September 6, 2016.
