Hernando County deputies say a woman grabbed a 2 foot tall Xmas tree and beat her husband with it

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla - A decorative Christmas tree became a weapon during a domestic dispute over the weekend, according to Hernando County deputies.

Ashley Jenkins, 29, is now charged with one count of domestic battery.

Deputies say Jenkins got into a verbal argument with her husband that later turned physical Sunday night.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim went into the living room to avoid confrontation with Jenkins.

Jenkins reportedly followed her husband, began throwing things, yelling and striking him in various parts of his body with her hand, the affidavit states.

Deputies say Jenkins then grabbed a two foot tall, decorative Christmas tree and began striking her husband with it.

The arrest affidavit states that the victim's father witnessed part of the attack.

Jenkins apparently admitted to deputies she threw the tree at her husband, the arrest affidavit states.

Jenkins was arrested and is being held without bond.

She is slated to appear in court December 31.
