Four workers shocked when pole falls into power line

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. - Workers installing a light pole in Hernando County were shocked when the pole went into a power line and fell.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Commercial Way and Cortez Boulevard, according to a sheriff's statement.

A total of five workers, all employed by United Signs and Signals, were installing the pole. Four were on the ground guiding it into position and one was operating a boom truck.

As the boom operator was lowering the pole, a strap broke causing the pole to go into the power line.

The pole and the power line then fell to the ground, shocking the workers.

Two were taken to Bayonet Point Hospital as trauma alerts. Two others were taken to Oak Hill Hospital with minor injuries. The fifth worker refused treatment.

No other information was immediately available.
