Father admits to using meth, drags kids into woods because of hallucinations

A man in Brooksville has admitted to using meth after he took his two children into the woods in the middle of the night because he was hallucinating. 

George Denty, 35, of Brooksville admitted to child neglect and was arrested and charged on Thursday, July 21. Deputies say he has primary custody of the children involved in the incident. 

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Denty said he snorted a one-inch line of meth before he left his house with his two children. He said he was hallucinating and seeing people and individuals that he thought were trying to hurt him. 

When Denty took his 6-year old and 8-year-old out of the house, neither of them were wearing shoes and they both sustained scratches to their back, arms, legs and face. Denty and the children were treated at the scene and they were taken to Bayfront Health in Brooksville. 

Denty was arrested at the hospital and he is currently being held at the Hernando County Detention Center. He will faace a judge on August 16 at 9 a.m.
