Deputies: Subway Manager charged with Grand Theft after making up robbery story

SPRING HILL, Fla. - Hernando County deputies say a Subway manager's story about being robbed fell apart as they questioned her. She's now charged with Grand Theft.

On Monday, deputies responded to a report of a robbery at the Subway restaurant at 5394 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill where they spoke with the manager, Susan Hart, 39.

She said she was driving to the bank to make the weekend deposit when a white male suspect made his way into her car and told her he "had something that could hurt her."

She said they drove a distance to U.S. 19 where he got out of the car and fled on foot with the bank deposit bag.

Hart went back to the store and called for deputies.

According to a sheriff's statement, Hart's "story was not adding up."

She finally recanted and said she took the money.  Post Miranda, she led deputies to her home where the entire deposit was recovered, according to the statement.

She was charged and taken to the Hernando County Detention center.
