Cody Wygant, accused of killing son over video game, faces new charge

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. - A Citrus County man accused of killing his one-year-old son so he could continue playing video games is now facing an additional charge involving a three-month-old girl. Two others are also charged.

Cody Wygant, 24, confessed to killing his son Daymeon when he was arrested and charged with murder last Thursday, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Wygant is now charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm to the infant girl who was living in the home at the time.

Two women, Geneva DuFour, 55, and Jessika DuFour, 22, were also charged and arrested.

The baby girl was removed from the home and taken to a local hospital.  She was then taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville where she was placed in ICU.

According to the Sheriff's Office and medical staff, the infant had "flat head syndrome," which can be caused from leaving a baby in a playpen or crib for long periods of time.  She also had a severe yeast infection that covered her body and other medical issues.

After she was released, the girl was placed in foster care.

Detectives who went to the residence last week said they found "deplorable" conditions including a severe roach infestation.

"Thankfully, we got to this child when we did. I don't want to think about what would have happened to her without this type of intervention," said Undersheriff Buddy grant.
