Citrus County sheriff's helicopter makes hard landing on U.S. 19

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. - The pilot of a Citrus County Sheriff's Office helicopter was forced to make a hard landing on U.S. 19 Tuesday night after the engine malfunctioned.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the Crystal River area.

The pilot was treated at the scene for minor injuries.  The co-pilot was not hurt.

The aircraft was a 1968 )H-6 helicopter.

Information about the hard landing was to be passed on the FAA, according to a sheriff's statement.
