CITRUS COUNTY, Fla - A 29-year-old Homosassa man is accused of sexually abusing a 23-month-old girl.
Travis Malcom of 6327 S. Gross Avenue, Homosassa, is facing one count of sexually battery of a child under the age of 12 and one count of aggravated child abuse.
Citrus County deputies say Malcom was babysitting when the alleged abuse took place on November 27.
Malcom was reportedly friends with the family for 15 years and it was common for him to babysit the children.
Deputies say when the parents returned home, they found Malcom with his zipper down and the lights out.
According to an arrest affidavit, when the child's father questioned Malcom about what was going on, he allegedly told them the little girl was suffering from diaper rash and crying in another room.
At that point, Malcom reportedly took off running through a back door.
Deputies say when the parents checked on the little girl they noticed some trauma to her genitals and called police. The two other children were not injured or harmed, according to reports.
All three children were taken to Gainesville and underwent examinations, deputies say.
An arrest report states that the little girl's examine showed positive results for sexual abuse.
Malcom was arrested and is now being held on $20,000 bond.
Deputies say Malcom declined to speak with them and requested an attorney.
