Brooksville police say a man was hit with a car over stolen gym shoes

BROOKSVILLE, Fla - A dispute over a pair of shoes ended with a Brooksville man being hit with a car and  then a knife fight, police say.

Police say they responded to a weapons disturbance at 748 S. Lemon Avenue for a weapons disturbance Tuesday.

Investigators revealed Isaac Bailey III, 20, believed Khristian Francis, 19, stole shoes from him.  Bailey was angry at Francis.  When Bailey saw Francis riding his bike near Main Street, Bailey hit Francis with his vehicle and attempted to fight him, police said.

Francis fled on foot to his home.

According to police, Bailey followed and the two fought in the front yard. 

Francis ran into his house, grabbed a kitchen knife, and assaulted Bailey with it, an arrest report states.

Bailey was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

Francis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Both are being held at the Hernando County Jail on $2,000 bond.

The men are neighbors.  It is unclear if shoes were ever stolen.
