BROOKSVILLE, Fla - A drunk driver did extensive damage to a neighborhood Tuesday night when he hit a house, busted a water pipe and then plowed through a flower bed, Brooksville Police said.
William Warner, 49, of 22611 Jacobson Road, Brooksville, is facing two counts of driving under the influence with property damage.
Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called out to 2300 Middleton Street in regard to a reckless driver.
Police said they spoke to two witnesses who reportedly watched Warner drive recklessly through the neighborhood.
Warner struck a house busting a water pipe and then drove through another yard destroying a flower bed, according to witnesses.
Officers said when they caught up with Warner he smelled of an alcoholic beverage and he had impaired speech.
Warner performed poorly on field sobriety tests, an arrest affidavit states.
Warner was taken to the Hernando County Jail where he was given a breath test.
Police said the test gave a reading of .07 and .08. He was then given a urine test and the sample was sent to FDLE for testing.
Warner is being held on $1,000 bond.
