A body was found in a bin at the West Hernando Transfer Station on Thursday, according to a sheriff's statement.
The discovery was made by workers shortly before noon at the 2525 Osowaw Boulevard Spring Hill facility.
Detectives said there were two crime scenes. One is the transfer station and the other a private residence at 6527 Treehaven Drive in Spring Hill.
Investigators questioned two people they believe may have knowledge about the victim.
Action News was on the scene as investigators pulled items out of the garage and took pictures at the home on Treehaven Drive.
Neighbors told ABC Action News Reporter Edward Lawrence they saw a white truck backed up to the garage this morning and witnessed two men putting trash in the back of that truck.
Investigators believe the community is not in danger.
"We are calling it a crime scene. Yes. It's a crime scene because it needs to be preserved. We have to process it and get all the evidence out of there," said Denise Moloney, Hernando Co. Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman.
