CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. - A Citrus County man, who doesn't have a phone, posted to Facebook Tuesday afternoon that there had been an emergency and he needed someone to call 911.
When deputies responded to 13347 S. Old Jones Rd. in Floral City, they discovered a suspected burglar dead.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, the deceased man had been shot to death by an adult son of the homeowners who lives in an apartment on the property.
"He was in his apt. He heard glass breaking up at his parents house. He walked to his parents house, unlocked the door, and interrupted a burglary in process," said Citrus County Captain David DeCarlo.
A confrontation with the suspect ensued in which the subject was shot, according to deputies.
The identity of the deceased suspect has not yet been released. But according to the sheriff's office, he was armed at the time of the shooting.
The deceased is believed to be connected to a Hernando County burglary that occurred earlier in the day.
10:46 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residential burglary at 16199 Flavian Rd., in Brooksville.
The two suspects, who were stealing items off a covered porch, were confronted by the homeowners, deputies say.
Both suspects then fled on foot.
Upon arrival, deputies requested that K-9 units and aviation be deployed. Timothy Stone, 29, was taken into custody in Hernando County. Charges are pending.
The other suspect managed to escape. He is believed to be the same person who was killed in Floral City.
