CITRUS COUNTY, Fla - A 27-year-old Citrus County man is accused of beating up a 1-year-old girl he was watching.
Jonathan Anderson, of 93 Pine Street in Homosassa, is now facing aggravated child abuse charges.
According to deputies, they received a report concerning child abuse on December 16 from staff at Oak Hill Hospital. The girl was apparently taken there by her mother.
The child was transported to All Children's Hospital. Once there, she was examined by the Pinellas County Child protection team who reported that she suffered a fractured skull, a concussion, a lump on her head, a bruise to her right forehead, a corneal abrasion on her right eye, a hemorrhage in her left eye, bruising to her back and bruising to her buttocks.
According to an arrest affidavit, the girl's mother told hospital staff her daughter had been in the sole care of Anderson on December 15 and she had fallen.
Hospital staff said the girl's injuries were not consistent with a fall.
Deputies say when they interviewed Anderson he told them he did not see the little girl fall, but believed she tripped over a cat and then hit several tables before hitting the ground.
Anderson reportedly submitted to a drug test which yielded positive results for marijuana, oxycodone and methadone, an arrest report states.
Deputies arrested Anderson at his home.
He is being held on $10,000 bond.
