A Citrus County man is accused of knowingly transmitting HIV to a 60-year-old woman

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla - A Citrus County man is accused of knowingly transmitting HIV to a 60-year-old woman.

Samuel Orr, 50, of 480 Marion Oaks Trail in Ocala, is charged with felony transmission of a sexually transmissible disease.

According to deputies, Orr engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse with a female friend in August 2013.

The 60-year-old woman contacted detectives after she tried donating blood in February and received notification that she had HIV and was urged to see a doctor, an arrest report states.  The woman told detectives she had previously donated blood on multiple occasions without any issues.

The woman advised deputies she'd known Orr for 15 years and had not been sexually active in the decade before her encounter with Orr, an arrest report states.

A family member of Orr reportedly called the woman in September 2013 after learning she'd been intimate with Orr and advised the woman Orr had HIV, deputies say.

Subsequently, the woman says she tried contacting Orr, once in 2013 and another time in June 2014, and both times Orr denied having HIV.

Deputies confirmed the woman did not have any issues donating blood in the years prior

On July 30, Orr was placed under arrest and brought in for questioning.

Orr declined to speak with deputies.  However, deputies say Orr made a spontaneous statement about having informed the woman of his HIV status.

Orr is being held on $10,000 bond.
