BOISE, Idaho - A Boise hospital says the stricken pilot of a United Airlines flight that made an emergency landing has died.
United Flight 1603 with 161 passengers was flying from Houston to Seattle when the medical emergency forced it to make the landing about 8 p.m. Thursday in Boise.
Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Jennifer Krajnik said Friday the man died overnight at the hospital.
ABC News reports he died from a heart attack.
During the flight, a crew member made a request over the plane's loudspeaker system if there was a physician on board.
"We got a man down, chest compressions going on right now. I'm not sure too much right now the status," A crew member told air traffic control. "Can an ambulance and maybe some air stairs meet us on the runway?"
The airline did not give the pilot's name, citing privacy reasons.
